Job Title: Retail Operations Manager & Brand Ambassador
Location: Exeter - On-site
Type: Full-time, permanent position
Salary: £45,000 + bonus
Reporting to: Managing Director
Job Summary
We are seeking a versatile and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Brand Ambassador & Store Manager for our outdoor, tactically focused B2C retail store, Summit Tactical.
As a business with a strong tactical focus, this role is well-suited for ex-military personnel with experience and interest in tactical as well as outdoor products. This multi-faceted role combines customer engagement, store management, and online merchandising responsibilities, making it ideal for someone with a passion for outdoor products, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to retail operations.
You will serve as the face of our brand, representing our values and products to customers both in-store and online. From assisting with in-store operations and managing customer enquiries to maintaining online product listings and fulfilling orders, your role will be key to delivering exceptional experiences across all customer touchpoints.
Key Responsibilities
Brand Ambassador
- Be the face of the brand, promoting the brand values, ethics and identity. Create content to promote the brand, increase awareness and engage with customers.
- Maintain a good understanding of our outdoor and tactical products, staying updated on new arrivals, features, and benefits to effectively communicate their value to customers.
- Assist with store displays, ensuring products are visually appealing and aligned with brand standards.
Store Management and Despatch
- Operate the Exeter-based physical shop (open to the public on selected days/times).
- Actively welcome customers in the store and provide personalised product recommendations where required.
- Pick, pack and ship orders.
- Day-to-day management of orders.
Customer service
- Manage enquiries and issues across all customer touchpoints, including email, chat, and social channels.
- Communicate with customers on enquiries relating to products, product recommendations, orders, deliveries, and shipping.
- Manage returns and faulty products.
Online Merchandiser
- Launch, manage and optimise product listings on the website, ensuring best sellers are featured prominently and align with the customer journey.
- Work closely with products and marketing to align online merchandising strategies with business goals and customer needs.
- Managing/monitoring stock levels to ensure relevant products are merchandised.
Skills and Experience Required
- Knowledge of and experience using tactical products is essential.
- Passion for outdoor and tactical products and brand engagement.
- Energetic, approachable, and confident in engaging with diverse customers.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confident speaking in front of a camera.
- Proactive and collaborative attitude, capable of working independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle customer concerns professionally.
- Strong computer literacy.
Skills and Experience Preferred
- Proficiency in website management systems (e.g., Shopify, or similar platforms).
- Previous experience in retail, sales, or customer service.
- Experience in website administration, IT, or a related field.
