SHOP NOWWhat's New in the Ironsight II?
In our latest review video, Chris breaks down why the transition from the legacy Ironsight to the new Ironsight II range is a complete game-changer for field operations. Outdoor Research took years of customer feedback straight to their R&D team to fix the pain points of a tactical classic.
Key Upgrades:
- Pinch Points Eliminated: Redesigned internal seams fix legacy model issues, delivering a comfortable, second-skin fit.
- Upgraded Palm Longevity: Premium Ax Suede™ synthetic leather and a welded silicone grid provide reliable grip with a significantly longer lifespan.
- Trigger Guard Streamlining: Removing bulky index finger armor creates a slick profile for effortless entry into tight trigger guards.
- Three Mission Profiles: Now a task-specific lineup—choose the standard Combat, the lightweight LT for hot climates, or the flame-resistant FR for breaching and flash protection.

Choosing Your Ironsight II Gloves

Reinforced, fully closed eyelets replace civilian speed hooks. This "No-Snag" profile is essential for airborne, fast-rope, and climbing operations, ensuring laces never catch on riser lines or technical gear.
Ironsight II FR Gloves

- Best For: Vehicle crews, breaching details, and high-risk dynamic entries.
- Primary Material: 10 oz/yd² FR Nomex® Knit
- Palm Structure: Premium Goat Leather + Suede
- Weight (Per Pair): 106g
- Hazard Defense: Flash, Fire, & Blunt Impact

We modified the traditional narrow Italian last to account for natural foot swell. The extra internal volume prevents hotspots and blisters during 12-hour shifts or 20km tabs.

Comparing the Ironsight II Range
In this video, Chris takes a side-by-side look at all three gloves now available in the expanded Ironsight II lineup.
Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, Outdoor Research has developed three distinct, mission-specific designs built around the same high-dexterity chassis. Watch Chris break down the specific features of the standard Combat, the flame-resistant FR, and the minimalist LT versions so you can pick the exact right glove for your deployment profile.

Engineered for Impact: Duo Asoflex™ Structural Stability
The Duo Asoflex system isn't just a sole; it’s a mission-critical chassis. By bonding a rigid, anti-torsion element with a soft, shock-absorbing layer, we’ve eliminated the "foot fatigue" common in traditional combat boots. This allows for total lateral stability on broken, rocky terrain while providing the vertical cushion needed for long patrols on hard-surface urban environments.
Mission-Safe Lacing: Zero Snag, Maximum Security
Standard hiking hooks are a liability in tactical environments. Our custom-modified Fugitive features reinforced, fully closed eyelets from the ankle up. This "No-Snag" profile is essential for the safety of airborne and fast-rope operators, ensuring your laces never catch on riser lines, vegetation, or technical equipment during high-stakes maneuvers.

Proven Performance Across Every Area of Operations
Whether your mission takes you into the saturated mud of Northern Europe or the fine-grain sand of an arid desert, there is a Fugitive built for the task. We offer two distinct lining options—waterproof GORE-TEX® for wet/temperate climates and moisture-wicking Cambrelle® for high-heat environments—ensuring your feet stay dry, cool, and operational regardless of the weather.
Combat Agility: Half the Weight, Double the Support
Ounces equal pounds, and pounds equal pain. At just 693g (Size 8UK), the Fugitive Tactical provides the ankle support of a heavyweight leather boot without the physical toll. This reduction in "swing weight" allows for faster movement and less fatigue during multi-day rucking missions, without sacrificing the structural integrity required for heavy load carriage.

Optimized for the Professional: A Custom Wide-Fit Last
Whether your mission takes you into the saturated mud of Northern Europe or the fine-grain sand of an arid desert, there is a Fugitive built for the task. We offer two distinct lining options—waterproof GORE-TEX® for wet/temperate climates and moisture-wicking Cambrelle® for high-heat environments—ensuring your feet stay dry, cool, and operational regardless of the weather.
Maintenance & Life Extension
Ounces equal pounds, and pounds equal pain. At just 693g (Size 8UK), the Fugitive Tactical provides the ankle support of a heavyweight leather boot without the physical toll. This reduction in "swing weight" allows for faster movement and less fatigue during multi-day rucking missions, without sacrificing the structural integrity required for heavy load carriage.

Combat Agility: Half the Weight, Double the Support
At just 693g (Size 8UK), the Fugitive Tactical reduces "swing weight" to minimize fatigue. It provides the ankle protection of a heavyweight leather boot with the agility of a lightweight hybrid.

Built for the Long Haul: Fully Resoleable
Constructed with LWG-rated leather and high-tenacity nylon, this boot is an investment. The fully resoleable design allows you to refresh the Syncro rubber outsole while keeping your perfectly broken-in uppers.
Maintenance & Thermal Management

The Sock System
A Gore-Tex boot is only as good as the socks inside it. We recommend a Merino wool blend to allow moisture to escape. Avoid cotton or putting a waterproof "Storm Sock" inside a GTX boot, as this traps moisture and can lead to trench foot.

Serviceability
To extend the life of your boots, wash off dirt with warm soapy water and allow them to dry at an ambient temperature. Never use a "red-hot" drying room, as it hardens the materials; instead, use newspaper to aid internal drying for GTX models.
Find Your Fit: Waterproof GTX or Breathable Cambrelle
Select GTX for wet/temperate climates or Non-GTX for high-heat/arid environments.
